Or venture further to Westward Ho – a Victorian coastal resort named after the novel and a popular destination for a scenic jaunt or a plethora of activities with your loved one.
For a real culinary treat head over to the four AA Gold Stars and two AA Rosette awarded SPELT restaurant in the picturesque market town of Bampton. Serving a delicious tapas inspired menu within eclectic surroundings, it’s sure to awaken all the senses placing you firmly in the mood for love!
It’s worthwhile noting that all these locations are not far from our popular Stowford Village resort, based in Combe Martin, North Devon. Ranksborough Hall, Rutland
Rutland Water is a much-loved attraction in the UK’s smallest county, just a few miles away from our Ranksborough Hall resort in Oakham. More than just a reservoir, the amenity is also home to a nature reserve as well as water sports hub with 1000s of visitors enjoying a multitude of activities on offer all year-round. It also makes for the most magical spot from which to watch the sun set and rise over the water with your loved one, or rock up at night for some exceptional stargazing!
Slightly further afield is Belvoir Castle, a historic gem in the heart of England. The castle may be closed during the winter months but its exquisite gardens remain open for those still wishing to soak up the atmosphere of days gone by. The featured ‘Snow Drop Walks’ are guaranteed to evoke the deepest most romantic feelings between lovers. You could even toast the occasion with the Castle’s own Belvoir gin!
If hilltop walks with stunning country views are more your kind of thing, then head over to Borough Hill Country Park, just south of Melton Mowbray where star-crossed lovers are sure to be treated to some lovely sunrises and sunset.
Sun Valley, Cornwall
Our Sun Valley resort, offering comfortable lodges and great onsite facilities within 20 acres of parkland, is set in Pentewan Valley near St Austell on the gorgeous Cornish coast and really is spoilt for choice when it comes to romantic places to go and things to do.
Venture out to Mevagissey, a charming fishing village with its beautiful, coloured houses lining the cobbled streets. Or take a day trip to Charlestown Harbour, a historic landmark which has featured in many a TV production from Tim Burton’s 2010 film Alice in Wonderland, The Eagle Has Landed (1976), Treasure Island (1950), The Three Musketeers (1993), the popular BBC series Poldark, and even an episode of Doctor Who!
For those seeking more active pursuits, head over to the imposing Black Head cliffs headland for unspoilt 360 views of the Cornish coast. Or go on a journey of discovery through the magical Lost Gardens of Heligan.
